Google Docs Can Grade Your Paper!

No I’m not talking about the local grammar teacher placing a bunch of red ink all over your next article or white paper.

Google Docs can give you an idea of how difficult your document is to read by age and grade level.

  • First upload your document to your Google Docs account.
  • Once you have saved it.
  • Find out by pressing 3 buttons:   ctrl + shift + C

At the bottom of the new window, you’ll find out the Flesh Reading Ease, The Flesh-Kincaid Grade Level, and the Automated Readability Index.

Believe it or not, for most sales copy you want to score a 6 or less.

P.S.  If you do not have a Google Aps account, I highly recommend it for everything from document sharing/editing to spam-free email using your own domain name.   If you need help setting this up, just let me know.
